Overview of Personality Styles

When people base most of their knowledge of psychology on Jungian typology, they tend to get the framework of personality types mixed up with the framework of personality styles. Because they are not acquainted with other schools of personality studies, they tend to exhibit a certain psychometric myopia where they try to fit everything they see into the framework of Jungian typology.

The consequence is that elements of the personality that do in essence pertain to the style are habitually explained as if they were a feature of the type. This approach leads to errors in the accurate assessment of individuals.
