Greek Loves Test

The Ancient Greeks recognized different types of love: Bestowal, duty, union, and ascent. Though we all have different hopes and desires, wishes and dreams that we hope to experience through love, modern culture nevertheless tends to speak of love as if it were just one thing. Hence, a paradox of the modern age is that while our culture may at times seem to concern itself with little besides love, the way that it depicts love is nevertheless profoundly one-sided. To this end, it might be helpful to go back to the Greeks in order to clarify one's preferences and personal dispositions in love.

IDR Labs Greek Loves Test is the property of IDR Labs International.

Ours is one of the few free tests that is subjected to statistical controls and validation. Even so, please keep in mind that tests are merely indicators - a first peek at the system to get you started.

Though several authors and philosophers have proposed their own typologies of Greek Loves, our test follows the work of Irving Singer, professor of philosophy at MIT, and his masterpiece 'The Nature of Love: Plato to Luther' (Random House 1966). As argued in our articles on the Greek Loves, Singer's conception of the Greek Loves is closer to that of Greeks like Plato and Aristotle than the ones espoused by C.S. Lewis, Erich Fromm, and the like.

Personality tests, whether they are professional or "official" tests like the MBTI test (the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® MBTI), the NEO PI-R, Five Factor Model Test, or free online Greek Loves tests like this one, are merely indicators to help you find your personal outlook on the relevant indices measured. No test ever devised can designate your personality type with complete accuracy or reliability and no MBTI, "Big Five," or "Greek Loves" test can replace familiarizing yourself with the works of the relevant theorists in the field.

As the publishers of this free online Greek Loves test that allows you to discover your Greek Love according to the typology of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, and Irving Singer, we have endeavored to make this free online Greek Loves test as reliable, accurate, and complete as possible.

Like the "official" tests such as the MBTI test (the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® MBTI), the Jung Type Indicator, the NEO PI-R, and other such professional, accurate instruments, our free online test is subjected to statistical controls and validation in order to make the results as accurate as possible.

The authors of this free online personality test are certified in the use of multiple different personality tests and have worked professionally with typology and personality testing. Prior to using our free online personality test, please note that while the four-letter type code provided is compatible with the type codes provided by the official MBTI test and the official MBTI® training material, this test should not be confused with official trademarked tests like the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® or the Jung Type Indicator. The results of our free online personality test are provided "as-is", for free, and should not be construed as providing professional or certified advice of any kind.
